The third generation 2018 Kia Sportage crossover vehicle underwent a minor facelift last year, which means that its current life span is drawing to a close.
That also means an all-new generation model is in the works, and these latest spy shots reveal that testing of the 2018 Kia Sportage crossover vehicle is already well underway.
Our spy photographer was hanging around the famous Nurburgring race track in Germany when he spotted a heavily camouflaged next-generation Sportage coming along.
You have to do a little bit of imagining to see what might be under the covers, but it seems fair to say that Kia has gone the conservative route with this model, at least as far as the sides and greenhouse go.
Both are very similar to what is found on the current model.
There are some real styling changes to be found at the front of the 2018 Kia Sportage, with a larger tiger nose grille, wraparound headlights, and prominent fog-lights.
The lower positioning of the Kia signature grille gives some hint that the new model may be borrowing some design cues from the Kia KX3 concept.
There are similar inspirations to be found around back, including new LED taillights.
The spy photos were not able to capture the interior, but chances are it would be unfinished anyways.
When the new 2018 Kia Sportage does get released, you can full expect it to come with a fully redesigned interior and dashboard.
Under the hood of the new Sportage crossover vehicle, the expectations are that an improved 136-horsepower 1.6L CRDi will be there, as well as a 190-horsepower 2,0L CRDI for the diesel lineup.
On the gas side of things, expect an all-new 132-horsepower 1.2 T-GDI, and upgraded 201-horsepower 1.6-er, as well as a 245 hp 2,0L T-GDI.
